The final piece of the Prada Fondazione puzzle the ‘Torre’ opened to the public during Milan Salone on April 20th. The 60 metre- tall tower is the final part of the campus, Rising high above the Fondazione Prada and the overall neighbourhood, the tower’s irregular geometry follows a structural logic.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary in the inspired Salone exhibition space by OMA, Knoll presented its’ latest collections by Piero Lissoni and Marc Newson and re-imagined iconic designs, reaffirming the brand’s global creative vision.

Once again this year Knoll has called on OMA, the famous design firm co-founded by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, to design and install the stand at the Salone del Mobile.

This year in Milan. Knoll celebrates the centennial of the birth of Harry Bertoia ( 1915 – 1978 ) with a true in-depth exploration of this eclectic designer—through all his art forms, from sculptures to jewellery and from monoprints to the master’s celebrated Knoll Bertoia furniture collection

Belgian furniture maker Maarten Van Severen devoted himself to the rigorous exploration of basic furniture typologies and in the process developed a formal language of uncompromising simplicity and beauty.

Maarten who died from cancer in 2005, aged 48, left behind an extraordinary collection of furniture and several important architectural projects.

With all the excitement for Knoll happening at both their significant return to the Salone Fairgrounds, combined with the presence of Rem Koolhaas to launch the “Knoll Tools for Life” collection at the Prada Space – it was little wonder that this year, Knoll’s permanent Mlan showroom at Piazza Bertarelli received virtually no press coverage.
