Known internationally for his important contribution to contemporary architecture, American architect Steven Holl’s first official exhibition in Italy and in Milan, showcased a selection of his works including 26 watercolours, 13 prints (signed and numbered), some limited-edition design objects and sculptures.
Now in its sixth year, the Milan Design Award has become one of the most anticipated moments of Milan Design Week.
Dedicated to the most interesting installations of the week, the award goes to a designer or team whose work combines design, performance, technology and entertainment.
James Irvine: an Englishman in Milan – A tribute to the designer and to the relationship with Milan.
This project is a homage to the designer James Irvine who died suddenly and unexpectedly, in Milan in 2013
Curated by Maria Cristina Didero and Marco Sammicheli, the pieces on display were chosen from James’s studio and personal collections, precisely because they are tied to Milan, and able to tell that special relationship made of small habits, meetings and collaborations that Irvine had established with Milan.
Bruno Munari was an artist, intellectual, refined designer and teacher, with a love for lightness. He was sharp intelligent, elegant, congenial, irrepressible, creative, driven by experimentation and authentic eclecticism, moved by curiosity about things, for the world, for the people.
He used art as an original form of expression . Even before his graphics, design, pedagogy and publishing, art continuously guided his creative genius.
