A true innovator and one of the most influent person in forecasting young and upcoming designers Rossana Orlandi has become a design icon herself.
“I’ve always wanted to design a grandfather clock” – Lee Broom said – “My grandparents had one in their home and I was always fascinated by its majestic appearance and its intricate mechanisms.”
#TIMEMACHINE is an unmissable appointment @ 2017Milan Design Week
British product and interior designer, Lee Broom, probably just made the most intricate pun of all time with his “Salone del Automobile” installation – a lighting and interior installation set inside of a delivery van that he drove from East London to Milan for Salone del Mobile.
“Last year in Milan I went to lots of exhibitions that were all about the palazzo and everyone was talking about that,” Broom explains in the movie. “I thought, why don’t I create my own, but I’ll create a mini palazzo inside a vehicle.”
British product and interior designer Lee Broom transformed a row of 3 disused shops in Milan to create ‘The Department Store’.
It’s an incredibly accurate reconstruction of an ideal (and surreal) department store, Lee invited visitors on an immersive journey through a cinematic pastiche of a store across two floors divided in sections such as millinery, beauty, perfumery, bookstore, wine shop, accessories and so on.
For Milan Design Week, Lee Broom brought his London Crystal Bulb Shop to Spazio Pontaccio, in the Brera District.
The Pop Up shop created an immersive environment, while showcasing a series of new products based on the Crystal Bulb.
Some of the most well-known architects and designers, in Milan for the Salone, gathered at the Bulgari Hotel to celebrate the launch of the New York Times T Magazine spring design issue – “on taste and beauty”
