Conceived by architect Osvaldo Borsani as a home for his brother’s family, the beautiful Borsani Villa located in the small town of Varedo, just north of Milan,
It has been occupied by three generations of Borsani’s until 2008 when Carla Borsani, ( wife of Osvldo’s twin brother and business partner Fulgenzio ) passed away 10 years ago.
This treasure of design history is unknown and unseen, and offers a fascinating blend of styles bridging the two complementary approaches that defined Italian design in the 20th century: traditionalism and modernism
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Achille Castiglioni, the Achille Castiglioni Foundation entrusted the curation of an exhibition to Chiara Alessi and Domitilla Dardi, who created the project concept — to ask 100 Italian and international designers to write and send to Achille a congratulatory Birthday Card and at the same time, to give to him their favorite anonymous object.
The ” 100 x 100 Achille” exhibition is as playful and design-saturated as he would have loved.
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Fuorisalone.it has created a real game of Fuorisalone, a board game born from the desire to revive the most important design week in the world, that of Milan Design Week.
As part of Design Week 2018, scheduled from 17 to 22 April in Milan, Studiolabo introduces the board game Fuorisalone, a game produced by Cranio Creations that invites participants to experience the frenzy of that week of must-see events
The undisputed protagonist of Fuorisalone will be notably absent this year.
After 27 years of uninterrupted presence at the Milano Design Week, and every single time as the highlight of Fuorisalone in a crescendo of installations and events on an ever larger scale, appeal and success, this year, Tom, the rebellious and unpredictable hero of British design, surprises us again, but in another, truly unexpected, way – this time by NOT presenting his new collections in Milan.
Instead Tom will place all his bets on his new London Headquarters and his World Tour- which he has already embarked upon

He presents his classic creations together with the latest in sophisticated lighting design, all developed with the poetry that has always distinguished Davide Groppi.
Tom Dixon opened the press launch by revealing an amusing anecdote about his Instagram observations of the design community –
He showed an image he had posted on the Tom Dixon instagram page – of Usher taking a selfie with Tom – and explained that he had expected a tsunami wave of ” Likes ” on Tom’s instagram page due to Usher having 40 + million followers. The selfie image disappointingly only received 600 ‘ likes ‘ – yet the next image posted by Tom on the Tom Dixon page showing the cuts that can be made in a tree trunk received a few thousand ‘ likes ‘
Tom concluded from this observation, that the design community is motivated by material – not celebrity ….. Hence the theme for his collections and the basis for his work.
