Dedece, the exclusive Australian distributor of Tom Dixon’s renowned brand, has just opened a beautiful Monobrand store in the leafy Liverpool Street in Darlinghurst (adjacent to the dedece showroom off Crown Street).
Spread over four levels, customers will be able to fully immerse themselves into the world of Tom Dixon design, shopping his furniture alongside seasonal drops of his unexpected lighting and accessories.
The undisputed protagonist of Fuorisalone will be notably absent this year.
After 27 years of uninterrupted presence at the Milano Design Week, and every single time as the highlight of Fuorisalone in a crescendo of installations and events on an ever larger scale, appeal and success, this year, Tom, the rebellious and unpredictable hero of British design, surprises us again, but in another, truly unexpected, way – this time by NOT presenting his new collections in Milan.
Instead Tom will place all his bets on his new London Headquarters and his World Tour- which he has already embarked upon
Virgil Abloh held a Nike Reconstruction Workshop in the top level of Pop-Up space and those VIP guests lucky enough to have scored an invite got a personal insight into Virgil’s creative process, and got to flex their own creativity when they reconstructed their own pair of Nike kicks – right in front of his eyes.
Invited workshop participants ( and a few very lucky ” Kids” plucked at random from the long line queued out the front ) were each given a pair of Nike Air Force 1’s, some velcro, coloured swoosh’s, hammers and tools to create their own authentic shoes.
On a quiet Darlinghurst street last week, hundreds of young, mostly male Sneakerheads ( many still in their school uniforms having ducked away early from school ) patiently lined up for some 4-6 hours ( even as some light rain fell ) to meet their idol, Virgil Abloh, the introverted Chicago native.
Some of them had even journeyed to Sydney from inter-state to the official Supply ” Pop Up” Store installation space – thus inadvertently becoming the personification of Nike’s most fundamental principle: ‘Just Do It’.
All those in line were in high spirits, hoping to have their Abloh x Off-White iterations of the Nike “Top Ten” kicks autographed by Virgil

The Minotti “WE ARE FAMILY” cocktail party was a great chance to share a beautiful night with all the Minotti Ambassadors from around the globe, as well as to celebrate with the Minotti family together with Rodolfo Dordoni thier successful endeavours in creating a truly spectacular 2017 furniture and textiles collection
