A bench/installation 100 meters long, to assist to live electronic music and digital art performances
Art objects – paintings, sculptures, installations – need large architectural spaces to be exhibited, but they need also interior design objects to be admired. This is why Saporiti italia, every year on the occasion of the Milan Design Week, proposes to a series of well known international architects and designers to develop new objects “to watch art” and “to be watched” inside art and architectural spaces.
This year, during the Milan Design Week, Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro will also host the NODE 2010 Electronic Music Festival, which will transform the Museum spaces into an unusual stage for sound experimentations.
For this reason, Saporiti Italia requested to five important international designers, to create a long bench, quite an installation, that will interact with the NODE 2010 concerts.
Thus, Marti Guixé (Barcelona), Mauro Lipparini (Florence), Ministry of Design (Singapore), UdA (Turin) and Carlos Zapata (NewYork),will create together one single long bench, divided into five different segments, along the Fondazione Pomodoro central gallery, for a total surface of over 100 meters.
B. A. R. is a temporary installation that will live inside Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro only during the Salone del Mobile, to represent Marti Guixè’s vision about the food places as sites to inter-communicate and to socialize. With this unique and recognizable style, Marti Guixé creates with a few but powerful design and graphic elements a surprising yet functional and warm place, by mixing a clever anthropological observation with a touch of humour.

Dedicated to the “Luxury Towers” theme, the design competition organized by Saporiti Italia in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Culture and the Arts of Singapore, involved ten young design firms from the dynamic Asian city-state.
These young talents from Singapore developed the theme of the furnishing objects aimed to contain, preserve, protect or show luxury objects
With a poetic and charming project, Ministry of Design enchanted the international jury that met at the Saporiti Singapore showroom during the recent Singapore Design Festival, by transforming the concept of luxury from a simple reference to an object (space) that recalls memories of our own lives (time).
By making a direct reference to Shakespeare’s verses “All the world’s a stage” from the “As You Like It” play, Ministry of Design identified in the memories of life “the greatest luxury” and designed an “object” able to collect the precious “objects” of one’s memories.
The various phases of every man’s life (indicated by the poet as infant, school boy, lover, soldier, justice, pantaloon and infant again) are associated to various boxes made of different materials. The result is a modular “tower”, elegant, rich of philosophical meanings and open to further interesting design developments
