Cultural empowerment, artificial intelligence, the music biz, the ethics of criticism and the quest for perfection: these are just a few of the topics being explored by Vivid Ideas 2017.
The expanded 2017 Vivid Sydney line-up includes more than 260 Vivid Ideas sessions exploring the creative industries, up from 183 in 2016, featuring 370 speakers from 12 countries across 67 venues.
Vivid Music has partnered with the City of Sydney to deliver a programme across a multitude of city venues.
In 2017, Vivid will be bigger and better than ever, offering an expanded program of multi-genre music with a line-up including more than 400 Vivid Music events ( up from 190 in 2016 ) across 40 venues.
Organic Vibrations is a collaboration between Julia Gorman, an Australian artist whose work is currently on display in the collection galleries of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), and Paris-based creative and artistic collective, Danny Rose (Sergio Carrubba, Paola Ciucci, Lucia Frigola and Cédric Péri )
Together, they have create a singled, coherent artwork from the constant morphing and mutation of a series of images, which flow seamlessly over the facade of the MCA.
After the animals have retired to their night quarters for the evening, the lights of Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo will take centre stage.
Visitors arrived at Taronga Zoo’s Heritage Entrance Facade, transformed using 3D projection mapping into a complex world of ecosystems and spectacular creatures.
Once through the main gates visitors are led on a journey filled with thousands of lanterns including 10 magnificent, larger-than-life animal sculptures, illuminated to shine a light on the 10 critical species Taronga has committed to protecting

“A letto con il Design – Sleeping with Design” was held inside an early 1900’s 3 level factory, recently turned into the largest Maker Space in Italy; a place where life and exhibition are mixed together thanks to day and night events designed to narrate design as a social fact, a human process for human beings.
Sleep with Design – Design Hostel, was a place where designers’ daily lives mingled with exhibitions and showed how sharing can give shape to creativity.
