Wallpaper* – Toiletpaper Bar ! [pt 2/3] @ Salone Milan 2017

For the Salone 2017, Toiletpaper created a PopUp bar at the Mediateca Santa Teresa ( within Wallpaper*’s Holy Handmade exhibition space ), in the heart of the Brera Design District.

The Toiletpaper Bar ! installation used imagery created by artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari, in collaboration with Guffram, Seletti, La Buttiga

The bright, manic style of the art publication spreads all over a multi-tiered space that is not only a representation of various Toiletpaper works but also the Salone’s most unique watering hole

This is literally a physical manifestation of the magazine, an aesthetic overload sprung from the mind of Maurizio Cattelan.

The Toiletpaper BAR showcased an installation by Tino Seubert, where water and travertine were the stars for an unprecedented sensory experience.

It was actually quite nice if you’re comfortable being surrounded by walls and floors covered in spaghetti wallpaper.

Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari first paired as photographers in 2009, creating a prescient editorial for W magazine’s annual Art Issue.

Inspired by the result of their collaboration, the duo founded Toiletpaper, a magazine born out of their shared passion for making unique and surprising images.

Working together, Cattelan and Ferrari create photographs that fuse the vernacular of commercial image making with witty tableaux and surrealism.

The result – Toiletpaper – is a bi-annual publication that is itself a work of art.

Characterized by high production value and sharp humor, the images produced by Cattelan and Ferrari are instantly recognizable and reflective of their respective positions as renowned artist and acclaimed photographer.

The duo have produced their trademark photographs for T Magazine, Dazed and Wallpaper*, among others.

Their commercial clients include Kenzo, for whom four campaigns have been realized under the creative direction and photography of Cattelan and Ferrari.

About Tino Suebert

Tino Seubert is a product design studio based in London.

From early on in his bachelor studies in Bolzano and Paris Tino Seubert started working for art galleries and realised several projects with them.

From then on, the German born product designer’s focus has always been on interdisciplinary involvement.

He sees conceptualisation, design and production as a broad, cumulative process and finds it important to involve himself in each step to the greatest possible extent.

History and contemporary art are an inspiration as much as material research and science.

Material is never treated as just a medium of production, but as an integral part of the over all creative concept.

However, these serve as starting points and guiding inspirations and do not compromise the aesthetic standard of his work.
