Six days dedicated to sustainable mobility to discover Milan in the saddle of an electric bicycle and a whole new way to experience the upcoming edition of Salone Internazionale del Mobile.
The mobility provides a free smart ebike design tour, guiding you around the most unmissable design hotspots during the Milanese fair.
The protagonist will be the smart ebike, an authentic design object, which on July 2nd 2012 also won the Red Dot Design Award, one of the most prestigious international prizes in this field, selected among 4,500 submitted products from 58 countries.
The smart ebike is not only fun but also functional, and smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler has no doubt about it: “The smart ebike is a true smart – but on two wheels. It’s not just an extremely well designed bicycle that is sure to draw admiring glances in the city – it’s also really practical and child’s play to ride”.
More than a test drive, the smart ebike design tour is a real trip around the streets of Milan, a big chance given to everybody in order to personally try out the advantages of electric mobility while experiencing advanced design and new perspectives of the city.
After the registration, the starting point is at the smart ebike station in the courtyard of Fabbrica del Vapore. The tour is made of 10 stops characterized by a close relationship between the city and design, and which have been selected by five people, protagonists in the world of art and design: Lorenzo Castellini, Giovanna Massoni, Luca Nichetto, Matteo Ragni and Claudia Zanfi.

High-quality components guarantee dynamic, safe and fun cycling. For example, MT4 disc brakes from Magura are fitted at the front and rear. The fully integrated brakes interrupt the power supply to the motor during braking, stop its propulsion power and reverse the polarity so that it becomes a generator for recuperation of braking energy.
The smart ebike also features state-of-the-art infotainment: a USB interface is a standard feature and enables various mobile end devices to be connected with the help of a versatile cradle. There are even plans to develop a special app for the iPhone which would allow smart ebike riders to use their iPhone as an information centre, for example to call up information on the charging status and range.
