The ubiquitous big gun, Tom Dixon has been a key figure in Milan for as long as most seasoned visitors can recall. A maverick designer-businessman Dixon has been involved in the industry – from the early days as self-taught designer-maker in the 1980s selling limited editions of his welded furniture to companies such as Cappellini to head of design chain Habitat, creative director at Artek and his latest venture: the Dock, a retail and restaurant space in West London.
For this year’s Milan Design Week, he presents in conjunction with Blackberry Playbook – ‘Multiplex’, a pop-up viewing theatre, broadcasting centre, restaurant, shop and gallery.
