Extremism is a new book published by Tom Dixon in collaboration with global print manufacturers UPM.
Edited by design writer Laura Houseley the book explores seven interpretations of the Extremism theme – these include Extreme Weight, Extreme Craft and Extreme Colour.
Each chapter is printed on specifically chosen paper with specially selected ink relating to the contents of each theme. The book includes images of the new collection launching this week at Milan Design Week and an exclusive Q&A with Tom and Laura.
In defining the “Essence of Design”, Tom breaks it down within the book into six chapters:
Materialism (The microfactory),
Constructivism (Seeking the future of materials),
Expressionism (Obsessive self-expression),
Primitivism (2nd cycle),
Reductionism (The bare minimum), and
Futurism (New frontiers)
